Role Overview
The Senior Consulting Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the delivery of high‐impact consulting engagements for leading global beverage alcohol companies. Working closely with Consulting Managers and Directors, this role supports the delivery of complex, data‐ and research‐driven projects that inform decision‐making across strategy, innovation, brand and portfolio management, and market expansion for our clients. Leveraging IWSR's best‐in‐class data, 10‐year forecasts, consumer research, and global network of market experts, and foresight from WGSN, the Senior Consulting Analyst helps translate complex data into clear visualisations, concise reports, and actionable insights for clients. The role reports into the Consulting Director and works closely with colleagues across Consulting, Global Research, Consumer Research, Sales, and Product. This role suits someone who is highly analytical, numerate, intellectually curious, and eager to grow their consulting skill set in a fast‐paced, collaborative environment. Experience in the beverage‐alcohol category is extremely helpful as you will be advising with experts in their field.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution and delivery of consulting projects from start (proposal) to finish (delivery of reports), including data analysis, modelling, visualisation, reporting and insight development.
- Conduct detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis using IWSR market & category performance and forecasts datasets, consumer research, and other market intelligence.
- Build clear, structured analyses and develop charts, tables, and slides that translate data into actionable insights and recommendations in a compelling, client‐ready format.
- Support market sizing, scenario analysis, trend impact assessments, and innovation‐related frameworks.
- Support cross‐market analyses that compare trends, performance, and opportunities across multiple countries.
- Develop client‐facing materials used in senior‐level presentations and discussions.
- Develop a strong understanding of client businesses, objectives, and strategic priorities to ensure analyses and recommendations are relevant and impactful.
- Prepare thoroughly for and participate in client calls, workshops, and presentations, including reviewing objectives, materials, and key discussion points in advance.
- Support Consulting Managers and Directors to respond to client questions and follow‐ups.
- Ensure all outputs are accurate, quality‐checked, polished, and aligned to project objectives.
- Work collaboratively across Consulting, Research, Sales, Product, and WGSN teams to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment across deliverables.
- Support proposal development, scoping exercises, and internal project planning.
- Help document methodologies, tools, best practices, and case studies to improve consulting delivery efficiency and support knowledge sharing across the team.
- Stay up to date and proficient on use of new technologies – especially AI tools – to ensure optimal efficiency and cost‐effective ways of working.
- Adhere to project costs, timings and commercial considerations to ensure margin targets are met.
Role Scope & Progression
The Senior Consulting Analyst focuses primarily on analytical execution and project support. Builds foundational analysis, storytelling, consulting, and client communication skills. Gains exposure across a range of project types, categories, and markets.
As experience and capabilities grow, the Senior Consulting Analyst takes increasing ownership of analyses and defined workstreams, with limited oversight. Manages client‐facing projects, leading client discussions, check‐ins through the process and presentations at the end. Helps review or guide junior analysts as needed. The role offers a clear development path within IWSR and WGSN Consulting, with opportunities to progress as responsibilities and client leadership experiences develop.
Skills & Experience
- 2–4+ years of relevant professional experience, ideally in consulting, strategy, market research or analytics in Bev‐Alc or similar FMCG industries.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify meaningful insights.
- In‐depth demonstrable experience and familiarity with Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot (other data and analytic tools are also helpful).
- Strong visualisation and presentation‐building skills with PowerPoint (experience with think‐cell and Google Slides are also helpful).
- Excellent attention to detail and confidence working with large multi‐layered datasets.
- Ability to clearly communicate insights in written, visual, and narrative forms.
- Intellectual curiosity and interest in consumer behaviours and trends, and their implications on the future.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines in a fast‐paced environment.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; Master's degree or relevant professional qualifications a plus.
- Experience in beverage alcohol, or adjacent industries helpful but not essential.
- Language skills helpful, for supporting multi‐market work across the globe.
