Your purpose

Our Physiotherapy Development Lead will play a leading role in advancing our patient care standards and clinical excellence, taking Ascenti to the next level. You will empower our Leadership Team to build the clinical capability of their teams, plan and manage clinical skills development and upgrading, leading specialist clinical training across your region; at the same time as being on hand to provide expert clinical advice and direction where needed. Building strong relationships within your partner region, you will provide top quality advice about clinical standards and the optimal development of each individual clinician. You’ll ensure that we live our values from the inside out, particularly in relation to safeguarding, patient safety and clinical procedures.

How your role fits within our team

The Physiotherapy Development Lead will report to the Area Leadership Team and will have a dotted‑line to our Head of Clinical Excellence. You’ll be a senior MSK physiotherapist, so you’ll know what best practice looks like and you’ll role model this in your everyday work. You’ll be responsible for facilitating the clinical development and empowering high performance of all clinicians within your region. Clinicians will seek you out when they need advice and support in their clinical practice; particularly when a clinical mentor suggests that a more complex or serious case needs a more experienced hand to resolve.

Key responsibilities

  • United – collaboration
    • Identifying learning and development needs of your team of clinicians and addressing them directly and through your team of mentors; ensuring that all physiotherapists maintain required records of their continuous professional development.
    • Support area and regional managers with the induction processes.
    • Assisting, where needed, in clinical processes such as the promotion pathway and assessment and addressing any practice concerns amongst your team.
    • Supporting Ascenti’s culture of recognition and our commitment to high performing teams, by identifying clinicians who demonstrate excellence in their practice.
    • Promote staff wellbeing, engagement and collaboration; through technology, development programs and company‑wide initiatives. This helps to create a safe environment where colleagues feel safe and bring their true selves to work, promoting a culture of openness, diversity and healthy well‑being.
  • Dependable – clinical excellence
    • Act as the clinical expert and role model for your region; be available and confident to answer complex clinical questions.
    • Maintain high standards of professional conduct and abide by core standards of practice outlined by the HCPC and CSP.
    • Delivering one‑to‑one and group training, both face‑to‑face and remotely.
    • Coaching and developing a team of clinical mentors to deliver effective teaching sessions.
    • Ensuring the consistent application of our clinical development programme in line with regional and individual learning needs.
    • Effectively managing patients with complex conditions using a wide range of advanced physiotherapy skills, including injection therapy (where appropriate), manual physiotherapy techniques, self‑management advice, virtual physiotherapy and therapeutic handling.
  • Caring – performance and reporting
    • Taking responsibility for the clinical quality and performance metrics of your region by regularly evaluating clinical data; identifying and implementing improvement strategies, where necessary, to deliver excellent outcomes and experience to all patients and clients.
    • Demonstrate a broad range of advanced and specialised communications skills (with patients, physiotherapists, mentors, managers, peers) including appropriate written communication and the ability to engage in critical dialogue with a range of audiences of different levels of knowledge and expertise.
    • Manage complaints in a timely and professional manner.
    • Support the regional managers and area managers with the SASSY policy.
    • Demonstrating excellence in report writing and records keeping on the Ascenti IT system.
    • Keeping up with best practice, ensuring that our services are delivered in line with our high standards.
