Job Description
The purpose of this role is to undertake the processing of structural steel shafts & sheet plates with the use of laser CNC operated machines in accordance with the issued shop drawings.
This role requires the operator to undertake the processing of material in compliance with the issued bill of materials and shop drawings ensuring the correct utilization of materials.
This role also involves the loading and unloading of members with the use of overhead gantry type cranes.
Responsibilities
- Check heat numbers and material ID numbers ensuring processing of the correct material in line with the material bill sheets.
- Load and unload materials from processing machines using forklifts and overhead gantry cranes.
- Measure and mark shafts to the issued shop drawings and ITPS.
- Stack parts ready for fabrication.
- Read and interpret shop drawings and quality documents to ensure compliance with processing.
- Undertake tasks in compliance with company policies, practices, and safety regulations.
- Ensure machines are operating efficiently to maintain production schedules and targets.
- Be available to attend work and complete required tasks for nominated shifts.
Qualifications
- Read and interpret workshop drawings.
- Work as part of a team or independently as required.
- Operate a gantry or overhead crane – certificate preferred.
- Be available for shift work and overtime if required.
- Self‑starter, reliable, friendly, and have a positive attitude.
