Software Developer - 1 day a week in office

Software Engineer (AS400, RPG/400, iSeries) Liverpool – Hybrid working, 1 day a week in the office – Liverpool. Role Purpose: Design and develop enhancements to product suite while solving technical problems using best practices and standards. Core Requirements: – Develop high-quality software following established processes – Collaborate with Solution Architects and Business Analysts – Design and estimate complex work packages – Reduce technical debt through guidelines and patterns – Review/approve Associate Engineers\’ designs – Meet project timelines, costs, and quality standards – Help resolve blocking issues Technical Skills: – Programming: RPG/400, RPGLE, AS400, SQL, Java, HTML5, JavaScript, DB2, Oracle – Testing: Unit tests, integration tests, TDD – Development practices: OOP, design patterns, refactoring – DevOps: CI/CD, SCM tools – Database: SQL queries, debugging – Architecture: System design, patterns Professional Skills: – Strong written and verbal communication – Problem-solving and troubleshooting – Team collaboration and leadership – Self-motivated with ability to motivate others – Technical documentation – Progress and issue reporting Additional Requirements: – Maintain technical knowledge through training/conferences – ISO9001, ISO27001, ISO22301, PCI, GDPR compliance – Travel as needed – Support team culture of learning and improvement This role combines technical expertise with collaborative team skills to deliver high-quality software solutions.
