Description
A Software House based in Leicester is looking for an IT Manager with specialist infrastructure knowledge to join the growing IT department. In addition to infrastructure expertise, you will bring strong people‑management skills and experience leading teams.
As IT Manager of a growing support function, you will oversee networking and infrastructure first, second and third line analysts, and specialists in virtualisation and physical servers. You will manage Windows and Microsoft environments, vendor and supplier relations, licences and renewal, and be responsible for the organisation’s infrastructure, availability and performance.
You will also manage the team’s development – hiring, firing, training, one‑on‑ones, etc. – and be accountable for your own budget. The role reports directly to the Head of IT and requires decisive decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of networking and infrastructure analysts and virtualisation specialists.
- Manage the organisation’s Windows and Microsoft server environments.
- Oversee vendor, supplier management and licence renewal.
- Ensure reliable IT infrastructure, availability and performance.
- Develop the team through hiring, firing, training and performance reviews.
- Manage the IT budget.
Qualifications
- Commercial experience as an IT Manager or Infrastructure Manager.
- Proficiency with Windows & Microsoft environments.
- Strong ITIL practitioner.
- Experience with VMWare, virtual and physical server management, SQL Server and databases.
- Knowledge of ISO 27001 policies & procedures or similar security compliance.
- Team‑management skills – welfare, hiring/firing, training.
Desirable
- Experience with IaaS, PaaS or SaaS.
- Experience with Windows migrations.
