Job Description
Big Data Engineer, Analytics, Kafka, Cassandra, Hadoop, Spark, Zookeeper, .Net Core, Azure, DevOps, Big Data Administration, Disaster Recovery – Global Software House, Nottingham. 55-65k.
Responsibilities
- Work with data from thousands of devices, managing data ingest, data movement and data consumption pipelines.
- Generate insight into data by applying computational intelligence, optimisation, and big data analytics techniques.
Qualifications
- Experience working with Big Data.
- Experience with Kafka or similar, and willingness to join a brand-new Big Data Team.
- Working knowledge of Confluent’s Kafka library (and Librdkafka), Kafka administration, and Kafka monitoring using JMX.
- High‑performance stream processing.
- Kafka Connectors (mainly Sinks initially, e.g., for HDFS).
- Hadoop ecosystem – HDFS and Hive; desirable: Spark, Zookeeper, Oozie, NiFi.
- Optional knowledge of high‑performance asynchronous Kafka communication from .NET, micro‑service architectural patterns, and automated testing.
