Wychem, an Ascensus Specialties Company, is excited to announce an opening for a Maintenance Engineer to join our small, thriving team with a global footprint. This is an opportunity to contribute to a company whose chemical products are integral to the manufacture of vital medicines and 4K LED televisions.
The Maintenance Engineer is a crucial member of the site team, reporting directly to the Maintenance Lead. You will play an essential role in ensuring the continuous operation of our production facilities while upholding the highest standards of quality control, health and safety, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance & Technical Support: Undertake maintenance work, servicing, and administrative tasks as directed by the Maintenance Lead to ensure operational efficiency.
- Safety & Risk Management: Maintain a safe working environment by conducting task-based risk assessments and ensuring the department remains compliant with all company safety procedures and welfare standards.
- Operational Collaboration: Support cross-functional departments to ensure work priorities are aligned and client expectations are consistently met.
- Effective Communication: Liaise with employees and suppliers to ensure maintenance requirements are clearly understood and tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Relationship Building: Develop strong working relationships and foster confidence among colleagues, contractors, and external partners.
- Problem Solving: Provide active support to the Maintenance Lead in both routine and non-routine troubleshooting and problem-solving activities.
- Flexible Support: Carry out other duties and related tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support the needs of the business.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4 GCSEs at Grade C or equivalent, including Mathematics and English. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer usage.
- Knowledge of working with hazardous chemicals and materials, including associated risks.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations relevant to the role, such as working at heights, handling dangerous substances, and working in explosive atmospheres.
- Basic proficiency in using tool craft equipment, including grinding and welding tools.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in maintenance departments within chemical or potentially explosive atmosphere environments.
