A leading manufacturing firm based near Southampton is requiring a Test Engineer to design, develop test equipment and processes as well as carry out product testing for new and existing product development projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Interpreting technical requirements, creating test plans, developing automated test fixtures and performing product testing.
- Support of system level testing of NPD projects: Develop the overall test plan and process of embedded systems, focusing on product performance, automated test systems and product requirements.
- Develop test fixtures (production and engineering) for the testing of new products and subsystems of mechanical and electronic hardware.
- Negotiate test requirements with product management, project management and other members of the project team as well as communicate these requirements and plans.
- Integration testing: setup and perform tests against the product requirements to ensure the product meets the system level requirements for the product.
- Testing and validation: Develop and execute test plans to verify that the system meets its specifications for both user needs and technical requirements.
- Collaboration: Work with other teams, including software, mechanical, and electrical engineers, to define requirements and integrate solutions.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for the system's design, root cause analysis, prognosis and product functionality.
Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field, such as computer engineering, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering.
- Proficiency in programming languages like C and C++, Python, etc.
- Familiarity with communication protocols and hardware interfaces.
- Knowledge of PCB design tools and electronic design automation software.
- Experience with debugging tools and techniques for embedded systems.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking skills.
