With a newly acquired UK AOC Ascend Airways are operating a small fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft (NG and MAX) in the ACMI market, who opened their first operational base at London Gatwick in early 2024. The company is part of Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) provider, operating a fleet of 221 aircraft on 6 continents. The group also provides a range of aviation services: MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul), pilot and crew training, ground handling, as well as a variety of associated aviation services. Supported by 14,000 highly skilled aviation professionals, the group is parent company to over 250+ subsidiaries. We are seeking candidates for positions of Captain, reporting to the Director of Flight Operations. These are important roles, and the successful candidates will play a key part in the birth of this new airline and enjoy the possibilities for career advancement which our growth will bring. The positions will be based at London Gatwick and will involve some night-stopping with occasional longer periods up to two weeks away from base during the winter season only. The flying pattern will comprise busy summer months but with quieter winter rosters anticipated, pilots may take additional time off during the winter season to suit their lifestyle. The successful candidates will have the following experience and attributes: Unrestricted right to live and work in the United Kingdom Class One medical certificate without restrictions (other than for spectacles/contact lenses) Strong communication and inter-personal skills Willing to maintain a home address within 90 minutes travelling time of London Gatwick Captains: Boeing 737 type rating either current or expired by no more than two years A minimum of 3,000 hours total time A minimum of 500 hours in command of Boeing 737 aircraft **UK ATPL and medical preferred. Applications now accepted from EASA ATPL Captains. Successful EASA candidates must convert to a UK licence prior to date of joining. (Ascend Airways will assist in the licence conversion process)** We offer a competitive package of salary, flight pay, per diems, and pension contribution as well as paid parking at base and paid aviation medical examinations. Full Time Captain SALARY – £120,000 (Revised april 2024) £13 Flight pay, 6% of salary as a pension contribution Loss of License Insurance Career progression opportunities Paid parking at your base A max of 8 days leave between 1stJUN and 15SEP A min.10 days off per month. Holiday entitlement is 42 days per year, with ten days off per month, and we also offer three ‘golden days’ each year on which crew members are guaranteed a day off at base. Full Time Captain – 20/10 Commuting option offered within EU Accommodation and per diem paid whilst on duty Flights paid in economy class on first and last day of duty. Holiday entitlement is 36 days per year, with ten days off per month, and two ‘golden days’.
