With a newly acquired UK AOC Ascend Airways will begin operating a small fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft (NG and MAX) in the ACMI market, opening its first operational base at London Gatwick in early 2024. The company is founded on the legacy of Synergy Aviation, a respected UK AOC holder, which has been acquired by Avia Solutions Group, already the world’s largest ACMI provider with over 180 airliners in operation.
Responsibilities
We are seeking candidates for positions of Captain, reporting to the Director of Flight Operations. These are important roles, and the successful candidates will play a key part in the birth of this new airline and enjoy the possibilities for career advancement which our growth will bring. The positions will be based at London Gatwick and will involve some night-stopping with occasional longer periods up to two weeks away from base during the winter season only. The flying pattern will comprise busy summer months but with quieter winter rosters anticipated, pilots may take additional time off during the winter season to suit their lifestyle.
Qualifications and Experience
- Unrestricted right to live and work in the United Kingdom
- Class One medical certificate without restrictions (other than for spectacles/contact lenses)
- Strong communication and inter-personal skills
- Willing to maintain a home address within 90 minutes travelling time of London Gatwick
- ELP ICAO minimum level 5
Captains – Requirements
- Boeing 737 type rating either current or expired by no more than two years
- A minimum of 3,000 hours total flying time
- A minimum of 500 hours in command on Boeing 737 aircraft
UK ATPL and medical preferred. Applications now accepted from EASA ATPL Captains. Successful EASA candidates must convert to a UK licence prior to date of joining. (Ascend Airways will assist in the license conversion process)
Compensation and Benefits
- SALARY – £120,000
- £18.90 Flight pay per block hour
- 6% of salary as a pension contribution

- A max of 8 days leave between 1st JUN and 15th SEP
- A min.10 days off per month
Holiday entitlement is 42 days per year, with ten days off per month, and we also offer three ‘golden days’ each year on which crew members are guaranteed a day off at base.

- Accommodation and per diem paid whilst on duty
- Flights paid in economy class on first and last day of duty
Holiday entitlement is 24 days per year, with ten days off per month.
