About the Role

We are partnering with a major national supply chain specialist to recruit a Sustainability Lead. In this hybrid strategic-and-hands-on role, you will own the end-to-end creation, development, and delivery of the business's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) roadmap across their UK network. If you excel at turning strategy into action—from leading ISO 14001 audits to mentoring local sustainability champions—this is an outstanding opportunity to shape the green future of a leading operations network.
Key Responsibilities
- ESG Strategy: Develop and drive the implementation of the UK ESG roadmap, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and industry best practices.
- Audit & Compliance: Oversee and manage audits for ISO 14001 and waste licensing, ensuring full regulatory compliance across operations.
- Culture & Engagement: Build, train, and manage a network of site-level sustainability champions to embed environmental awareness throughout the company culture.
- Reporting & Data: Collate, analyse, and report on key ESG metrics, preparing the annual UK ESG report and targeting high benchmark standards (e.g., EcoVadis).
- Project & Supplier Management: Lead innovative sustainability initiatives, evaluate supplier ESG compliance, and drive continuous environmental improvement.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven Experience: Demonstrable background in a dedicated Sustainability, ESG, or CSR role.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, environmental legislation, waste licensing, and systems like ISO 14001.
- Data & Analytics: Proficiency in data analysis, report writing, and financial modeling for sustainability projects.
- Soft Skills: Influential communicator, self-motivated, and adept at inspiring multi-site operational teams.
- Mobility: Full clean UK driving license with willingness to travel nationally across UK sites as required.
