A service engineer position has become available with a well established metal cutting machine tool supplier. Trading for over 50 years, this second generation business have built a great reputation for reliability and service in both new and used machinery. They supply customers with a range of services from machine installation and uplift, to routine servicing, breakdown repairs, spares and consumables. With a head office based in Worcestershire, engineers will be required to work both in the field, and occasionally in the workshop for refurbishment and pre-commissioning projects.
This position offers a starting salary of £35 – £38K depending on experience, door to door when travelling to customer sites, Time & 1 / 3 after 39hrs, Time & ½ on Saturdays, overnight stay allowance when working away, a company van & credit card for expenses, 33 days holiday, salary sacrifice pension scheme, medical cover, life assurance, product training and much more.
There is a robust training package with this role too, working at the head office during the first 3 months to learn the products, processes and procedures that you’ll be required to carry out when on site. Nationwide travel is expected at times, as well as overnight stays in hotels all fully paid for by the company.
To be successful as a service engineer you will have:
Responsibilities
- Installation, Commissioning, Maintenance & Service of various types of bandsaws, circular saws, both automatic and semi automatic
- Routine service and inspection checks to company standard
- Breakdown maintenance both mechanical and electrical repairs
- Full installation, setup, levelling and geometry checks
- Providing end user support to customers as well as training and demo’s
- Report back to the office on any spares or replacement part requirements
- Use of specialist equipment, lifting gear and tools all provided by the company
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a field service engineer working for a similar OEM of capital equipment
- Strong knowledge of mechanical repairs to machine tools, along with basic knowledge of working safely with electrical circuits and wiring to swap parts like for like
- Willingness to travel nationally and show flexibility towards overnight stays when required
- Full clean drivers license
