Senior Chemical Engineer – Process Development & Plant Improvement A well-established independent manufacturer, specialising in fine chemicals and rubber accelerators, is looking for a Chemical Engineer to join their dynamic team. With a strong global presence, this company continues to thrive, renowned for its commitment to excellence in chemistry. Reporting to the Chemical Engineering Manager, you\’ll play a pivotal role in process design, safety, and plant modification, driving operational efficiency and compliance across a complex chemical manufacturing environment. What You\’ll Be Doing: Leading the design, implementation, and commissioning of plant modifications Carrying out hazard assessments and leading HAZOPs for new and existing processes Defining scope for risk assessments, performing process calculations, and advising on testing programmes Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, safety codes, and best practices Advising R&D and production teams on practical solutions for new and existing process development Providing technical advice to internal teams, customers, contractors, and consultants Leading assigned capital projects from concept through to commissioning, within budget and performance targets What You\’ll Need: Essential: Degree-qualified in Chemical Engineering Minimum 5 years\’ experience in an industrial chemical manufacturing environment Strong understanding of process safety, engineering design, and plant operationsDesirable Experience: Process development and continuous improvement COMAH regulations and DSEAR methodology SIL and LOPA assessments Relief system sizing and DIERS methodology What\’s in It for You: 25 days annual leave + bank holidays Paid sick leave scheme Free life assurance BHSF health and wellbeing benefits Stakeholder pension scheme This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Chemical Engineer who thrives on problem-solving, process development, and contributing to high-impact projects in a regulated manufacturing environment.
