A manufacturer of safety-critical components sold to Aerospace and Ministry of Defence engineering businesses is now seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team. Supplying OEMs and First Tier Suppliers globally, this business is experiencing a period of growth. In order to cope with this growth, they are looking to bolster their already large engineering team. The role benefits from a competitive starting salary, bonus scheme, generous pension (8% EC), healthcare package and many other great perks.

As Mechanical Engineer you will work on projects across concept design, demonstration, development, qualification and production.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing design innovation to meet customer needs.
  • Demonstrating compliance with customer requirements.
  • Adhering to EN9100 processes.
  • Generating and delivering formal technical presentations to the customer.
  • Producing product technical specifications and detailed technical reports.
  • Carrying out validation testing.
  • Taking the lead on formal design reviews.
  • Being the customer technical interface lead on all technical matters.
  • Communicating with all levels of the business, manufacturers and suppliers.

The key skills required for the Mechanical Engineer will be:

  • Degree educated, ideally within mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering or a related engineering discipline. Equivalent qualifications will also be considered.
  • Strong understanding of engineering (mathematics, stressing, materials and manufacturing techniques).
  • Ability to absorb and assess technical information.
  • Good understanding of DFMEA, ‘Design to Cost’ and ‘Design for Manufacture’ (DFM).
  • Excellent document/report writing skills.
  • Trials/assessment testing experience (e.g. structural testing, vibration, etc.).
