A renowned manufacturing business specialising in cutting‑edge, bespoke injection‑moulded plastic packaging solutions is actively searching for an Engineering Manager with a background in plastic injection moulding to oversee setting, maintenance and tooling. With a rich history spanning more than a century, the company has expanded its operations, establishing manufacturing facilities across various European locations. The emphasis is now finding an Engineering Manager to support the Operations Manager.
The role is responsible for the management of maintenance, tooling and setting, providing an asset management service to the factory, including optimal asset integrity and productivity, increased availability and reliability, reduced cost and risk, hence improved profitability together with delivering internally all new projects to the agreed timing plans & budgets.
Salary: ~c£40,000, working Monday to Friday.
As Engineering Manager your duties will include:
- Management of all technical teams which includes the maintenance department, the toolroom and the mouldshop to ensure best practice is adopted in all manufacturing areas.
- Assisting with tooling / equipment supplier management including selection, negotiation, and performance monitoring.
- Supporting the Operations Manager in the management of Manufacturing OEE and resourcing of improvement projects.
- Providing support to the Quality Team, ensuring all products are produced to specification and any manufacturing defects are identified and remedied in a timely manner.
- Co‑ordination and management of production line trials to ensure that critical performance characteristics and specifications are achieved.
To be successful in the role of Engineering Manager, the ideal candidate will:
- Have significant experience working in a plastic injection moulding environment.
- Be experienced in a management role and have held the same job title, or similar such as Technical Manager, Maintenance Manager, Production Manager or Manufacturing Manager.
- Possess a good understanding of processing, tooling and maintenance.
- Be experienced with continuous improvement techniques and implementing them.
- Possess people management skills and experience, including training and coaching.
Based in the Mansfield area, located closely to the M1, this role is easily commutable from Sheffield, Chesterfield, Nottingham, Derby and Newark.
