A highly automated, fast-paced manufacturing business within the industrial materials sector is seeking a strategic and experienced Logistics and Delivery Performance Manager to lead operational improvements within its UK transport network. The company operates multiple sites across Europe and is known for its strong focus on sustainability, innovation, and efficiency.
If you have a strong background in UK freight forwarding, a data-driven mindset, and proven experience managing carrier relationships, this is an excellent opportunity to conceptualise and implement key logistics projects and safeguard outstanding delivery performance.
Key Responsibilities: What You Will Do- Delivery Performance: Continuously track, monitor, and investigate all late deliveries, developing actionable, data-driven solutions to boost reliability.
- Carrier & Stakeholder Management: Own all carrier/haulage and Freight company relationships, ensuring strict adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Collaborate closely with Freight Procurement and provide input to Transport Planning.
- Reporting & Improvement: Regularly report on KPI status and work proactively with stakeholders to implement performance and quality improvements.
- Shunting & Yard Management: Manage the shunting service provider, maximise load efficiencies to reduce trailer use, and track equipment availability. A key project will be to conceive and implement a new trailer yard concept, including the rollout of a 'new' yard system (e.g., RFID Tags).
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics or a relevant field, or completed vocational training as a freight forwarding and logistics leader.
- Specialist Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of Transport Management and Project Management.
- Specific Experience: Extensive operational freight forwarding experience in delivery management and deep understanding of the domestic UK freight market.
- Technical Proficiency: Expert use of Transport Management Systems (TMS) / ERP Systems. Proficiency with tracking platforms. Strong command of the MS Office Suite.
- Language Skills: English proficiency at an almost native speaker level is essential, while basic German knowledge is desirable.
