A Technical Manager contract job opportunity has arisen within an advanced materials manufacturer and packaging specialist supplying technical products into pharmaceutical, construction and industrial markets worldwide. This contract role will support technical development, product performance, compliance and innovation across a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Working closely with senior leadership, Production and Operations, the role requires a highly organised and commercially aware technical professional capable of operating at pace, simplifying complex problems and driving projects through to completion.

Technical Manager responsibilities include:

  • Leading technical projects across temperature-controlled packaging and specialist material product ranges.
  • Supporting product development, testing, trials and certification activities.
  • Solving technical product performance and material application challenges.
  • Working closely with production to resolve manufacturing and process issues.
  • Managing technical compliance including UKCA, BBA and wider certification requirements.
  • Driving innovation, product improvements and new product introduction projects.

Technical Manager desirable skills and experience:

  • Degree qualified within Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Engineering or similar scientific discipline.
  • Experience within technical, product development or R&D focused manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of specialist materials, polymers, membranes or temperature-controlled packaging advantageous.
  • Commercially aware with excellent organisation and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfortable operating within a busy SME-style manufacturing environment.
