This is a varied position for an experienced Mechanical Fitter or Technician who enjoys getting hands-on with machinery, diagnosing faults and carrying out high-quality mechanical rebuilds.

You'll split your time between precision workshop overhauls and field-based service, installation and breakdown work.

The role would suit someone from a heavy engineering, industrial machinery, machine tool, recycling, quarrying or similar mechanical background who is comfortable working independently and solving complex mechanical problems.

Senior Mechanical Fitter Responsibilities Strip, inspect, repair and rebuild industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.

Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out root-cause investigations.

Work on rotating and vibratory equipment, gearboxes, pumps and bespoke machinery.

Carry out precision fitting, bearing replacement, alignment and mechanical sealing work.

Use micrometres, verniers, dial test indicators and other precision measuring equipment.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and manufacturer manuals.

Complete machinery installations, commissioning and service work at customer sites.

Support planned overhauls alongside reactive breakdown and repair requirements.

Communicate technical issues and recommended repair work clearly with customers.

Work safely within both workshop and heavy industrial site environments.

What We're Looking For Minimum 5 years' relevant mechanical fitting / machinery experience.

Time-served Mechanical Fitter / Technician or equivalent Level 3 mechanical qualification.

Strong experience stripping, inspecting and rebuilding industrial machinery.

Confident with precision measurement and mechanical fault finding.

Able to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Comfortable working both in a workshop and at customer sites.

Full UK driving licence.

CCNSG Safety Passport would be beneficial, although training can be provided following successful completion of probation.

HNC / ONC Mechanical Engineering and additional site tickets would be advantageous.

Senior Mechanical Fitter Benefits £38,000 - £46,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
