This role provides an opportunity to join an ambitious law firm whose Employment Department is highly regarded for its client service and ability to achieve strong commercial results. Covering all aspects of employment law, high standards of accuracy and efficiency are required alongside confident delivery of day-to-day commercial requirements. The individual must be highly motivated with the ability to confidently handle transactional and advisory work. The ability to develop existing and new client relationships is a must.
The department is growing and is an integral part of the firm's future plans. As such, the role holder should be passionate about business development with their own ideas on how to further grow and develop the department. Having a collegiate and collaborative approach to the team and the wider firm is also important.
Required Knowledge and ExperienceThe successful candidate will have at least 4-5+ years PQE with strong technical knowledge of employment law and a passion for business development. With a focus on a commercial client base, the role requires a strong background in respondent-based employment matters such as corporate support work, wrongful and unfair dismissals, redundancy and restructuring, restrictive covenants, and general employment issues.
We expect the successful candidate to have good team working and collaborative skills, a client-centred approach to legal matters, and sound commercial acumen.
Main Responsibilities- Process instructions in accordance with established procedures of both good practice and the firm's quality and risk management systems
- Assist in marketing activities and maintain professional relationships with referrers and clients
- Work collaboratively with other departments within the firm, promoting cross-referrals where appropriate
- Introduce new clients to the firm and identify networking opportunities
- Effect financial controls for matters under supervision, complying with SRA accounts rules
- Play an active role within the team and support colleagues during busy periods
- Take responsibility for delegated work, seek guidance when needed, and report errors promptly
- Engage support staff effectively
- Share knowledge across the team and firm
- Comply with SRA learning and development requirements and identify training needs
- Attend relevant training sessions
- Promote the firm's core values and brand
- Supervise junior team members such as Legal Assistants
- Embrace change and set a positive example to colleagues
- At least 4 years PQE within Employment Law
- Significant experience in employment law (ideally within private practice)
- Self-sufficient with minimal supervision and some supervisory experience
- Strong client relationship skills and commitment to excellent client care
- Team-oriented, with a collegiate and collaborative approach
- Excellent communication, adaptability, and flexibility
- Proven ability to build business relationships and enthusiasm for networking and business development
- Commercial awareness and understanding of financial fundamentals
- Genuine desire to contribute to the firm's growth plans
