We are currently working with LB Hillingdon to recruit an interim C1 driver to cover sickness. You will need to have your current digitacho and CPC.

ROLE PURPOSE: To drive the mobile library vehicle and carry out routine tasks to ensure efficient operation of the service, serving customers in a helpful and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the mobile library on set routes and timetables, manoeuvring the vehicle safely at all times.
  • Complete all daily vehicle check sheets and ensure the vehicle is clean and roadworthy; report any maintenance faults.
  • Operate the wheelchair lift safely, taking responsibility for the health and safety of yourself, staff and service users.
  • Serve members of the public in a polite and welcoming manner, adhering to customer care and equalities policies.
  • Operate the library computer system to process circulation of items.
  • Register new members and maintain membership records in line with GDPR.
  • Answer enquiries relating to library stock and facilities.
  • Shelve returned items, tidy shelves and maintain a high standard of presentation.
  • Handle complaints in accordance with the complaints procedure.
  • Adhere to safeguarding procedures and guidelines on handling unacceptable behaviour.
  • Comply with the Council's Health and Safety Policy and fire procedures at all times.
  • Flex working patterns as required to ensure frontline service cover.

We will be applying for a DBS on your behalf. The role is to cover sickness absence for a period of 8-10 weeks. Days of work are Tuesday to Friday.
