HIRING: A Freelance Fashion Designer
Asandra Studios is looking for a freelance fashion designer to help build out the brands future collections, while keeping is current vision aligned. At Asandra, we believe in crafting collections that are both timeless and innovative, garments that are romantic, feminine and always designed to make a woman feel beautiful. Our mission is to blend classic silhouettes with forward-thinking detail, delivering fashion that resonates with a modern yet elegant sensibility.
Role OverviewAs the Fashion Designer for women’s wear at Asandra, you will lead the creative and technical design process from concept to final production. You will translate our brand’s vision into collections that uphold our classic, romantic, feminine aesthetic, while staying fresh, relevant and commercially viable.
You will work collaboratively across design, production, sourcing, and marketing teams to ensure each piece meets our quality, aesthetic and brand promise.
Key Responsibilities- Research seasonal trends, fabrics, prints, colour palettes and silhouette directions in line with Asandra’s romantic-feminine vision.
- Develop mood boards, storyboards and design concept presentations that embody the brand’s identity.
- Create original sketches, technical drawings, CADs and spec sheets for women’s wear collections.
- Work on fabric, textile and trim sourcing: identifying quality materials that support our design vision and brand ethos (including sustainability where relevant).
- Develop prints, embellishments or surface treatments that reflect the romantic / feminine / innovative qualities of the brand.
- Collaborate with our factory to ensure the garments will fit well, and are production-ready.
- Assist with the sampling process: initial sample development, fittings, feedback, revisions, and final sign-off.
- Maintain strong organisation of design files, tech packs, fabric libraries, sample records, and ensure deadlines are met for seasonal launches.
- Proven experience as a women’s wear designer (or similar) with a strong portfolio showing designs that reflect an elegant, feminine, classic yet innovative aesthetic.
- Excellent sketching, CAD and technical drawing skills. Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop and/or other design software.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern-making, fit, fabric behaviour and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to source and evaluate fabrics, trims and materials, understanding quality, cost and sustainability implications.
