Nectar Imports are looking for a Senior Warehouse Operative to join our Late shift team, working hours are 1pm to 10pm from Monday to Thursday and 9am to 6pm on Friday. The Senior Warehouse Operative is responsible for processing and managing the transit of goods through the warehouse, maintaining a clean and safe workplace. To ensure the warehouse operates in a safe and efficient manner and to maintain co-operative working relationships with all team members to facilitate a successful and efficient operation. The role will also provide ongoing support to their Warehouse Team Leader. In the Warehouse Team Leader’s absence, the Senior Warehouse Operative will manage the team, ensuring performance by motivating team members to work to the best of their ability.
Responsibilities
- To have a comprehensive understanding of the WMS to enable coaching of others.
- Ensure the warehouse and site is kept clean and tidy, to include but not exclusive to:
- Using the bailer to recycle Plastic and Cardboard;
- Sweeping the warehouse including aisles and within Pick Faces;
- Dusting the stock and barriers within the warehouse to help reduce dust.
Additional Duties (if required)
- Act as a deputy to the Warehouse Team Leader and assist where required with any management activities. You will also deputise for the WTL in their absence.
- Assist with the movement of goods through the warehouse ensuring all members of the team are following the internal processes for stock management.
- Assist in providing the team with all resources necessary to carry out their roles effectively and safely.
- Working alongside your colleagues you will ensure that you have the correct staff hours allocated to the task and you will motivate people throughout the duration of the shift to ensure you maximise productivity.
- Collaborate with key internal and external business partners to resolve key issues and to find pro-active solutions to potential obstacles.
- To be fully accountable for the warehouse function in the absence of the warehouse team leader and to be a future successor of this role.
- Deliver KPIs on performance and efficiency across the team notwithstanding ensuring cost targets are met within budget.
- Working with the Inventory Controller to deliver initiatives to ensure the warehouse maintains stock accuracy.
- Ensure all company warehouse equipment is kept in a condition to comply with current legislation.
- Review the current processes and identify areas to drive improved efficiencies and levels of customer service by implementing warehouse best practice.
- Assist in providing your team with regular feedback on their performance, positive and constructive and use this information to help lift individuals. Motivation is key - each employee must feel valued.
- Ensure the shift’s cleaning routines are completed and all breakages are processed correctly.
Health & Safety
- Be responsible for the health and safety of the warehouse team in the absence of the warehouse team leader.
- Monitor Health and Safety to ensure that all health and safety procedures are known and followed by all colleagues.
- Ensure any incidents or accidents are fully investigated, dealt with through company procedure and any affected areas are made safe immediately.
- Maintain the accident record book and report any H&S deficiencies to the Health and Safety Officer and make recommendations.
Skills and experience required for this role:
- Strong people management skills with proven experience in a supervisory role.
- Proven track record of delivering operational improvements and efficiencies and sharing these across shift patterns in the beer or similar FMCG business.
- At least 3 years’ experience of working within a small team in a warehouse environment.
- Strong communication skills; inspiring teams to embrace challenges & own the performance.
- A developed awareness of Health & Safety considerations in a warehouse environment.
- Forklift licence an advantage.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good IT skills and knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems is desirable.
