ASA Recruitment’s client, a Public Sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a part-time Receptionist for an initial 2-month contract starting on 11th May 2026 on a rate of £13/hour to £16.78/hour PAYE based on experience. The hours of work are:

  • 2:15pm – 5:15pm from 11/05/2025 to 15/05/2026
  • 11am – 3pm from 18/05/2026 to 22/05/2026
  • 2:15pm – 5:15pm from 25/05/2026 to 20/07/2026

Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated, welcoming front desk customer service.
  • Deal with general enquiries by email or telephone, and redirect as required.
  • Maintain an awareness of security and address any issues as necessary.
  • Maintain the front desk and immediate area in a tidy and presentable state.
  • Provide access support to users with disabilities as required.
  • Maintain a constant awareness of health and safety at all times and promptly report any issues that arise.
  • Provide backup support for general operations when required, including monitoring generic email inboxes and coordinating responses during peak periods.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Either Vocational Qualifications (N/SVQ 3, ONC or equivalent) plus typically at least 1 year’s work experience in a relevant role; or School education to standard grade or equivalent plus typically 2 years’ relevant work experience.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and experience of using email and the internet.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks within a routine.
  • Understanding and ability to apply relevant standard procedures, including those governing health and safety.
  • Previous experience in a relevant customer service role and an understanding of the key behaviours required to deliver high-quality customer service.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience of working in a reception, administrative and/or event capacity would be advantageous.
