ASA Recruitment’s client, a Public Sector organisation in Edinburgh are currently looking to recruit a Planning & Risk Manager, for an initial 4 month contract (with potential extensions) on a rate c.£500/day inside of IR35 (based on experience).

The Role: You will drive forward the planning, monitoring and reporting of workstreams that make up the delivery of the organisation. This role requires working across the teams in the organisation, building trust and respect for the processes needed to deliver hearings and reports. The role requires a team member with strong stakeholder and people management skills together with sound project management credentials.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the monitoring, updating and reporting of the Plan working with the programme manager and teams across the inquiry.
  • Identify dependencies, critical activities, and pinch points, seeking solutions to those issues with the relevant team, escalating as appropriate to the senior team and Board.
  • Own the Risk Strategy, including identifying and constructively challenging mitigation plans and associated RAIDs including monitoring and escalation through to resolution.
  • Take ownership of the Operations Manual including commissioning updates to desk instructions etc to support teams across the organisation fulfilling their part in the delivery of the work.
  • This will include supporting them in identifying milestones and deadlines and communicating these clearly to all teams.
  • Review the governance statement, update as necessary and implement robust governance framework to deliver accurate and timely reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and promote interaction between multiple projects / teams across the division through regular communications and share lessons learned in a fast paced environment.
  • Capture on an ongoing basis lessons to be learned by the organisation, maintaining the lessons to be learned log, synthesising lessons and identifying opportunities to implement the lessons through the general work of the organisation.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Comprehensive and demonstrated experience of leading, supporting, and maintaining complex programmes across multiple teams using recognised Project Management methodologies.
  • Ability to extensively demonstrate planning and risk expertise, supporting and advising colleagues across a range of business areas through to resolution.
  • Demonstrate strong people management skills working across multi-disciplined teams.
  • Ability to add value by co-ordinating and driving consistency in joint working and reporting, across multiple profession.
  • Excellent networking & influencing skills.
