ASA Recruitment’s client, a Public Sector organisation in Glasgow, are currently looking to recruit a DevOps Engineer on a hybrid basis, for an initial 6 month contract (with potential extensions) on a rate of up to £685/day outside of IR35 (based on experience).
Responsibilities
- Implement high-level technical requirements in a reliable, scalable and performant way.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to more junior colleagues to ensure due technical consideration is given to make processes repeatable, scalable and secure.
- Attend all associated Agile ceremonies and make use of collaborative tooling (Slack, Confluence, Jira).
- Be proactive on identifying improvements.
- Be transparent and collaborative when making decisions.
- Work with clients with low technical expertise.
Essential Experience
- 5 years in a hands-on platform engineer / DevOps role working at a senior level.
- Expert level Kubernetes infrastructure build experience.
- Expert level Kubernetes infrastructure operate experience.
- Demonstrable experience building Kubernetes infrastructure on AWS EKS.
- Demonstrable experience operating Kubernetes infrastructure on AWS EKS.
- Demonstrable experience building secure solutions on Kubernetes.
- Ability to contribute to architecture roadmap for business area through leading and participating in Proof Of Concept (POC)/prototyping initiatives.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience designing, documenting and presenting secure solutions to stakeholders.
- Experience implementing Istio service mesh.
- Experience building secure solutions using Hashicorp Terraform.
- Worked in a GitOps-driven environment.
- AWS technologies (Compute, Networking, Security, Organisations, Toolsets).
- Linux Containers and container orchestration.
- Helm, Terraform, Git.
- Configuration Management, Secrets Management.
- Experience of managing infrastructure as code, catering for multiple environment differences.
- TLS, mTLS Authentication technologies.
- Demonstrable experience of supporting and integrating Spring Boot applications with provided infrastructure components.
- Experience of troubleshooting and proactively identifying issues and threats, highlighting non-adherence with industry standards/good practice.
- Ability to utilise existing tooling to troubleshoot complex technical issues and identify root cause.
- Ability to work with production support team to identify issues, highlight appropriate resolutions and implement change to remediate identified issues to live environments.
- Some experience coding in Python, interacting with APIs and supporting Java applications.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working on AWS Cloud migration projects.
- Experience with any or all of Terragrunt & ArgoCD.
- Solid understanding of common security principles.
- Vulnerability scanning & reporting experience.
- Able to demonstrate they have worked in regulated environments (e.g., finance, government).
