About the Opportunity ASA Recruitment are proud to be supporting a leading international renewable energy company in their search for a Utility Scale Solar PV Design Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company with an established pipeline of large-scale solar PV projects across the UK and Europe. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in producing high-quality designs that directly shape the delivery of some of the most ambitious renewable projects in the region. Key Responsibilities * Lead the design of utility-scale solar PV systems (20MW+) through all stages from feasibility to construction. * Prepare layouts, single line diagrams, electrical schematics, and cable routing using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helios 3D). * Carry out energy yield assessments, shading analysis, and performance modelling. * Optimise designs for constructability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with UK/EU grid and regulatory standards. * Collaborate with development, project management, and EPC teams to provide technical expertise during land acquisition, grid connection, and permitting. * Define specifications for core equipment (modules, inverters, trackers, cabling) to support procurement processes. * Ensure designs are delivered in line with relevant regulations, industry standards, and health & safety requirements. * Provide design and engineering support during construction and commissioning. * Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest solar PV technologies and design methodologies. Skills & Experience Required * Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related discipline. * Proven experience in the design of utility-scale solar PV projects in the UK or EU. * Proficiency with Solar design tools. * Strong understanding of HV/LV electrical systems, protection, and grid connection standards (DNO/G99). * Familiarity with UK and European solar PV regulations and industry practices. * Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. * Ability to work independently, while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams. * Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. * Must have the right to work in the UK — visa sponsorship is not available. * Fluency in Italian is a large advantage.
