Civils & Geotech Operative – Guernsey
Location: Guernsey – candidates must be based in, or willing to relocate to, Guernsey £18–£28 per hour, depending on experience + £900 per month rent allowance + £1,000 annual travel allowance We are recruiting experienced Civils & Geotech Operatives to join an established and growing team working on a range of challenging projects in Guernsey.
This is a temporary zero-hours contract, with the potential for up to 3 years, subject to local work permit requirements.
The Role The successful candidates will have experience in civil engineering and construction environments, with backgrounds in areas such as reinforced concrete, piling, groundworks or marine engineering.
Duties will include
- Reinforced concrete construction
- Erecting and dismantling formwork and shuttering systems
- Installing and fixing reinforcement steel to engineering drawings
- Assisting with concrete pours, placement, compaction and finishing
- Working alongside piling rigs and specialist geotechnical equipment
- Following all site health, safety and environmental procedures About You We are looking for candidates with:
- Proven experience in reinforced concrete (RC) construction
- Ability to read engineering drawings and reinforcement details
- Experience on large-scale infrastructure, marine, commercial or industrial projects
- A strong understanding of quality requirements for concrete works
- CPCS/NPORS qualifications would be advantageous
- Full driving licence preferred
- Reliable, hardworking and committed to high-quality workmanship What's on Offer
- £18–£28 per hour, dependent on experience
- £900 per month local rent allowance
- £1,000 per annum travel allowance, paid on production of a valid travel ticket
- Company will apply for and pay for the required Guernsey Work Permit
- Full PPE provided
- Ongoing in-house certified training, including NRSWA Streetworks, Excavation Safety and Confined Space Entry & Working
