Head of Delivery Engineering – Solar PV (C&I & Utility Scale)

ASA Recruitment are working exclusively on behalf of a UK-based Solar EPC delivering Commercial & Industrial and Utility-scale Solar PV projects, supported by a strong in-house Design & Engineering function.
They’re now hiring a Head of Delivery Engineering to lead delivery-stage engineering across live projects — taking schemes from Sales/FEED handover through detailed design and Issue for Construction.
Reporting to the Director of Design & Engineering, this role combines technical leadership with people management, acting as the senior engineering authority during project execution.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead and develop the Delivery Engineering team (senior engineers, designers and junior staff)
- Own engineering from handover through to construction readiness
- Oversee IFC drawing packs, layouts, SLDs and calculations
- Act as senior technical sign-off authority prior to build
- Ensure designs are compliant, buildable and aligned with construction
- Manage technical change control during delivery
- Work closely with Project Management, Construction and Procurement
- Support site teams with technical queries and issue resolution
- Maintain engineering QA, governance and CDM compliance
Technical background required
- Strong experience delivering C&I and/or utility-scale Solar PV projects
- Solid LV/HV electrical design knowledge (BS 7671, G99, DNO processes)
- Experience with AutoCAD plus PVsyst / PV*SOL (review level)
- Understanding of earthing, grid interfaces and inverter systems
- EPC or construction-led environment experience essential
- Able to review and challenge engineering work hands-on when needed
