A growing renewable energy contractor is looking for a Design Engineer to support the delivery of commercial solar PV, battery storage and energy projects across the UK. This role is ideally suited to someone based within commuting distance of Kent, however strong candidates with full design capability across both AC and DC systems will be considered on a remote basis. You’ll be involved from early-stage feasibility through to construction support, working on technically complex commercial and public-sector projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and review solar PV system designs for commercial projects
- Develop designs from feasibility through to construction stage
- Prepare layouts, schematics and technical documentation
- Carry out system sizing, cable calculations and electrical design (AC & DC)
- Support DNO/grid connection applications (including G99)
- Work closely with project managers and delivery teams
- Ensure designs meet UK standards, regulations and client requirements
- Provide technical support during installation and commissioning
About You
- Experience in commercial solar PV or renewable energy design
- Strong understanding of both AC and DC system design
- Familiar with tools such as AutoCAD, PVSyst, PV*Sol or similar
- Knowledge of UK regulations (BS 7671, G99 etc.)
- Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Desirable
- Electrical qualification or engineering degree
- Experience on large-scale commercial or industrial projects
- Understanding of battery storage systems
- Exposure to DNO processes and grid connections
