An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Stead House Distribution Centre as a transport operator. This role would be based on the PM Shift but flexibility would be required to work other shifts. This role operates a 5/7 working pattern so regular weekend working would be required as well as some element of lone working.

A typical day in this role includes:

  • You will ensure all drivers are issued with correct delivery instructions and activities, de-brief drivers after every trip and deliver feedback to the appropriate department.
  • To optimise all resources available.
  • Working closely with the warehouse operations function ensuring seamless loading and dispatch procedure.
  • Liaising with the planning team and provide information and recommendations where required.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the driver management team on performance and behaviour of drivers.
  • Ensure vehicles and trailers are kept within service schedules, booking all required maintenance and repairs with the relevant workshop.
  • Utilise the administration procedures accurately and in a timely manner, including all KPI support information.
  • Provide a first line of contact with stores in the event of schedule changes and daily issues.
  • To provide an effective shift handover to the incoming team.
  • To engage in a co-operative and positive culture within the Distribution Centre and the wider business.
  • To support colleagues, Team Leaders and Transport Manager where required.

  • Customer facing exposure.
