This is a high-profile senior role within the Commercial Finance team. The primary deliverable is to provide and analyse financial information to generate insight and recommendations that support value-added decision-making, partnering closely with the Trading, Merchandising and Supply Chain teams to drive performance, support strategic initiatives, and ensure robust financial control. The job holder will demonstrate strong commercial acumen, excellent reporting capability and confident use of financial systems. The role includes responsibility for a direct report, so the successful candidate must be capable of coaching and mentoring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Being the finance owner of all elements of company stock, business partnering with the business to provide financial analysis, insight and support. This includes analysis of stock targets and optimum levels, slow moving stock, and maintenance of the stock provision calculation.
  • Owning and managing all the financial processes and controls relevant to Stock, including month end accounting and supporting KPIs as well as providing and presenting financial updates to senior stakeholders.
  • Overseeing the production and delivery of weekly and monthly reports including KPIs and performance commentary.
  • Supporting the Cosmetics & Fragrance Trading teams enabling understanding of sales and margin performance, and helping the company to achieve Supplier Income and promotional retros targets.
  • Leading financial support for strategic trading projects and tenders with robust financial modelling and analysis.
  • Leading the annual budget and quarterly forecast processes for stock and relevant trading areas.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance reporting, controls, and efficiency.
  • Providing ad-hoc analysis and support to the wider Finance function and leadership teams.
  • Managing, coaching and developing a Finance Analyst.

What you’ll need:

We’re looking for someone who can combine strong technical finance skills with the confidence to influence and present to senior operational stakeholders.

  • 5+ years of finance experience, CIMA/ACCA/ACA preferred.
  • Strong commercial finance experience, ideally within retail.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across multiple functions.
