We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor with a Civils background to join a growing commercial team delivering high-value infrastructure and civil engineering projects. You will be responsible for the full commercial management of live projects, from tender handover through to final account, ensuring contractual compliance, maximising value and protecting commercial performance.
Working closely with Project Managers, Site Teams and the Supply Chain, you will play a key role in cost control, cash flow, forecasting and commercial strategy across multiple civil engineering packages.
Key Responsibilities- Full commercial management of civil engineering projects from tender to completion
- Liaising with Project Managers, Site Managers, Clients, Subcontractors and third parties
- Managing variations, claims and additional works with the client
- Cost management, forecasting and updating monthly CVRs and commercial plans
- Preparation and submission of applications for payment
- Monitoring cash flow, ensuring timely payment and positive cash recovery
- Procuring, allocating and managing subcontractors and suppliers
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and construction documents to prepare quantity and cost requirements
- Managing labour, materials, plant and subcontractor costs
- Ensuring budgets are maintained and identifying opportunities to improve margin
- Tracking design changes and ensuring budgets and forecasts are updated accordingly
- Monitoring material and plant spend and subcontractor wastage
- Issuing and managing contractual notifications
- Preparing detailed cost and progress reports for clients
- Maintaining strong relationships with both clients and the supply chain
- Proactively improving commercial processes and best practice
- Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within Civils or Infrastructure
- HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts and construction law
- Experience of commercial management and subcontractor procurement
- Experience with:
- Measurement & valuation
- Cost control and accruals
- CVRs and forecasting
- Certificates and payment cycles
- Salary: Β£40,000 β Β£75,000 DOE
- 6.5% annual bonus (subject to company & regional targets)
