A Tier 1 construction contractor specialising in joinery and fit-out is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to take full commercial responsibility across multiple high-value projects. This role will suit a Commercial Manager ideally with a strong joinery background, experienced within a Tier 1 environment, and comfortable managing teams, contracts and client relationships.
Role Overview
The Commercial Manager will lead the commercial function, overseeing cost control, contract administration, procurement, valuations and final accounts across specialist joinery and fit-out projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Manager role covering Tier 1 joinery and fit-out projects
- Full commercial control from pre-construction to final account
- Managing and mentoring Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff
- Cost management, forecasting and cash flow control
- Procurement and management of subcontractor packages
- JCT contract administration
- Managing variations, valuations and final accounts
- Commercial negotiations with clients and stakeholders
- Risk management and value engineering
Required Experience
- Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor (ready to step up)
- Joinery or specialist fit-out background is preferred
- Experience working for a Tier 1 contractor
- Strong knowledge of JCT contracts
- Experience managing commercial teams
- Based near Romford, Basildon or Essex, or able to commute
Salary & Package
- £80,000 – £95,000 basic salary (DOE)
