We are working exclusively with a highly respected, long-established specialist carpentry and joinery contractor operating across the commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and heritage sectors. Our client delivers high-value, technically complex packages for Tier 1 main contractors and blue-chip developers and has built a reputation for quality, reliability, and repeat business. Due to sustained growth and a strong secured pipeline, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Manager to lead and oversee their commercial function.
This is a senior, influential role with real autonomy and long-term progression.
As Commercial Manager, you will take responsibility for the commercial performance of multiple live projects, overseeing a team of Quantity Surveyors and working closely with Directors, Project Managers, and external stakeholders. You will act as the commercial lead for the business, ensuring strong cost control, risk management, and contractual compliance across all contracts.
Key Responsibilities- Overall commercial leadership across multiple projects
- Line management and mentoring of Quantity Surveyors
- Commercial strategy, forecasting, and reporting to senior management
- Managing valuations, variations, final accounts, and cost value reconciliation
- Contract administration under JCT / NEC forms
- Risk identification, mitigation, and commercial decision-making
- Supporting pre-construction, tenders, and procurement strategy
- Commercial input into programme, design development, and delivery strategy
- Client and supply-chain negotiation and relationship management
- Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to step up
- Background in carpentry, joinery, fit-out, or specialist interior packages
- Strong contractual knowledge (JCT / NEC)
- Experience managing and developing QS teams
- Commercially astute with a hands-on, pragmatic approach
- Comfortable working closely with delivery teams and senior leadership
- Senior position within a stable, well-regarded specialist contractor
