I'm currently supporting a Local Authority client who is looking to appoint an experienced Principal Officer - Repairs to lead the delivery of a high‑performing responsive repairs service across its housing portfolio.
Location: Loughborough / Hybrid Working

This is a senior operational management role responsible for leading repairs teams, business support functions and contractors, ensuring repairs are delivered efficiently, compliantly and with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage responsive repairs, maintenance and associated housing services
- Manage Repairs Team Leaders, Operatives and Business Support staff
- Oversee contractor performance and in‑house labour resources
- Manage customer complaints and housing disrepair cases
- Drive service improvements and performance against KPIs
- Monitor repairs from initial diagnosis through to completion
- Produce and analyse management information and performance data
- Manage budgets, resources and operational risks
- Work closely with voids, tenancy management and asset teams
- Ensure compliance with health and safety and regulatory requirements
- Support senior management and deputise for the Repairs & Investment Manager when required
Candidate Requirements
- Significant experience managing housing repairs services within a Local Authority, Housing Association or Social Housing environment
- Strong understanding of responsive repairs, maintenance operations and contractor management
- Experience leading large operational teams and driving performance improvement
- Knowledge of housing disrepair, complaints management and customer‑focused service delivery
- Experience managing budgets, resources and service performance
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills
- Construction, surveying, property or housing‑related qualification desirable
