Location: Ipswich, Suffolk (Hybrid - Mon/Fri WFH, Tue-Thu Office)

Our client is looking for an experienced Operations Supervisor to join their growing international freight forwarding business. This is a hands-on leadership role combining operational freight forwarding responsibilities with team management. You will oversee their overseas operational support team, manage customer shipments from quotation through to delivery, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help drive operational excellence across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop their overseas operations support team
  • Manage airfreight import and export quotations, bookings and shipments
  • Maintain high levels of customer service and operational performance
  • Support training, process improvement and system development initiatives
  • Create and maintain customer Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Assist with operational cover and workload management across the business
  • Support the implementation of automation and technology-driven improvements

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in international freight forwarding
  • Strong airfreight operational knowledge
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Excellent communication, organisational and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

Desirable

  • Seafreight (FCL/LCL) experience
  • Knowledge of UK customs procedures
  • Experience managing remote teams and implementing process improvements
