We are looking for a Transport Planner with a sharp commercial mindset and a proactive approach to logistics planning. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning routes across the UK and through the pallet network, with a strong focus on identifying and securing backhaul loads to maximize trip profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and optimise daily transport routes across the UK and through the pallet network
  • Strategically identify and secure backhaul opportunities to increase revenue per trip
  • Use planning tools (preferably Qargo) to manage and adjust schedules in real-time
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse teams, and customers to ensure smooth operations
  • Monitor transport performance and adjust plans to meet service and cost targets
  • Ensure compliance with all transport legislation and company policies
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
  • Proven experience in transport or logistics planning, ideally within a pallet network or UK-wide distribution
  • Strong commercial acumen with a focus on cost-efficiency and revenue generation
  • Ability to forward plan and adapt quickly to operational changes
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Proficient in transport planning tools; experience with Qargo is highly desirable
  • Solid understanding of UK road networks and transport regulations

Salary £45,000 to £50,000 plus car allowance
