We are looking for a Logistics Planner with a sharp commercial mindset and a proactive approach to logistics planning. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning routes across the UK and through the pallet network, with a strong focus on identifying and securing backhaul loads to maximize trip profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and optimise daily transport routes across the UK and through the pallet network
- Strategically identify and secure backhaul opportunities to increase revenue per trip
- Use planning tools (preferably Qargo) to manage and adjust schedules in real-time
- Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse teams, and customers to ensure smooth operations
- Monitor transport performance and adjust plans to meet service and cost targets
- Ensure compliance with all transport legislation and company policies
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Proven experience in transport or logistics planning, ideally within a pallet network or UK-wide distribution
- Strong commercial acumen with a focus on cost-efficiency and revenue generation
- Ability to forward plan and adapt quickly to operational changes
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Proficient in transport planning tools; experience with Qargo is highly desirable
- Solid understanding of UK road networks and transport regulations
Salary £45,000 to £50,000 plus car allowance
