Arxada is seeking a Placement Student to support our Regulatory Affairs team, which provides regulatory support across our Paints & Coatings, Materials Protection, Hygiene, Home & Personal Care, and Wood Protection businesses. The role is based at Arxada’s offices in Manchester and is offered as a 13-month fixed-term contract as part of our established industrial student placement programme. This placement offers valuable insight into potential careers in Regulatory Affairs and provides hands-on experience across multiple business units.
In this office-based role, you will support regulatory programmes across the business. You will gain exposure to product registration and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) authoring in compliance with EU chemical regulations, including BPR, CLP, and REACH, as well as research the regulatory status of competitor products. This is an excellent opportunity to develop practical experience in regulatory science and understand how regulatory compliance enables the development and marketing of safe, innovative biocidal products that meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the preparation, submission, and maintenance of regulatory dossiers for biocidal products under the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR).
- Support the creation and ongoing maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and product labels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Regulatory Affairs, R&D, Marketing, and other functions, to gather information required for regulatory compliance.
- Support the accuracy and maintenance of internal regulatory databases.
- Assist with reviewing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure alignment with current regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare monthly reports summarising placement activities.
- Participate in team meetings and stakeholder presentations, and be prepared to present and discuss your own programme of work.
Key Requirements
- Currently studying towards a BSc or MSc in a biological or physical science.
- Strong A-level results.
- Excellent attention to detail and a creative approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to analyse data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations for next steps.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills with a willingness to learn and develop new capabilities.
- Confidence in presenting work to a diverse audience, ranging from scientific experts to non-scientists.
