Salary: Up to £37,000.00

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Advisor to join our team and act as the lead Health & Safety representative on site. This role requires a confident professional who can operate autonomously, influence stakeholders at all levels, and drive a positive safety culture across a fast-paced warehousing and logistics environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring legal compliance, supporting operational excellence, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to maintain the highest standards of health, safety, and wellbeing.

Your Tasks

  • Act as the primary Health & Safety representative on site, managing priorities effectively with minimal supervision and ensuring a proactive, visible safety presence.
  • Support and guide the organisation to meet all Health & Safety legal obligations, regulatory requirements, audit standards, and company policies.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with operational teams and stakeholders to influence behaviours, encourage engagement, and embed a safety‑first mindset.
  • Identify and address unsafe acts or conditions, supporting managers in implementing effective corrective and preventative actions.
  • Lead initiatives to improve safety performance across warehouse, logistics, and operational environments.
  • Create, review, and update Health & Safety policies, procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work to ensure compliance with legislation and best practice.
  • Carry out regular audits, inspections, and workplace safety reviews, including MHE operations, loading bays and yard activities, pedestrian segregation, manual handling, operations storage systems, automated processes (where applicable).
  • Produce and maintain risk assessments, safe systems of work, safety audits, and inspections to identify hazards and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, hazards, and near misses, conducting root cause analysis and ensuring corrective and preventative actions are completed and documented.
  • Track and report on Health & Safety KPIs, trends, audit findings, and action plans to drive accountability and improvement.
  • Provide expert guidance on compliance, risk reduction, behavioural safety, and safety management systems.
  • Provide Health & Safety training and awareness programmes, including inductions, manual handling, DSE assessments, toolbox talks, site safety briefings.
  • Facilitate safety meetings, briefings, and engagement activities to keep the workforce informed and involved in safety matters.
  • Support IOSH‑qualified managers and operational leaders in understanding safety requirements, documentation, and best practices.
  • Act as the primary contact for Health & Safety inspections, audits, customers, insurers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Support contractor management processes, including RAMS reviews, compliance checks, and permit‑to‑work controls.
  • Ensure all visitor and contractor activities are carried out safely and in line with site procedures.
  • Assist with fire safety compliance, evacuation procedures, drills, first aid coordination, and business continuity planning.
  • Support and complement the Fire Responsible Person to ensure full compliance with fire safety legislation and the RFFO.
  • Act as system administrator for the organisation’s Health & Safety management system, ensuring accurate records, actions, and documentation.
  • Adhere to all company policies including Health & Safety, Information Security, Site Security, and GDPR.

Your Profile

Someone who thrives on working in a fast‑paced environment and takes a hands‑on approach to their workload.

You’ll have:

  • NEBOSH general certification or equivalent
  • Full and valid driving licence
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with acute attention to detail
  • Someone who has experience working in a warehouse environment would be advantageous but not essential.

Desirable, but not essential

  • NEBOSH Environmental Management or equivalent
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Fire safety or equivalent
  • Manual handling assessor
  • DSE Assessor
