Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The Health and Safety Advisor works closely with the business to guide, liaise and support the administration of the Health and Safety function and management systems.

Your Tasks:

  • Support and guide the organisation to meet Health and Safety requirements and obligations.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders to influence and promote good H&S practice.
  • Develop and maintain the company's health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring they are compliant with all relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Creating/Completing risk assessments, safe systems of work, safety audits, and inspections to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Advise management on safety matters, including the implementation of safety initiatives, safety management systems, and safety performance indicators.
  • Provide safety training to employees, which could include inductions, manual handling, and DSE.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, conduct root cause analysis with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Liaise with regulatory & audit accreditation bodies, ensuring that the company remains compliant with all relevant safety legislation and regulations.
  • Take appropriate measures to keep the workforce informed of safety matters inclusive of delivery of site safety meetings.
  • Attend safety meetings and conferences to stay abreast of industry developments and best practices.
  • Mentor and advise our IOSH-qualified managers on safety, compiling safety documentation, and following best practices.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including Health & Safety, Information Security, Site Security and GDPR.
  • System administrator for organisation health and safety management system.
  • Support and complement the fire-responsible person at their site to ensure the site overall is compliant with the RFFO.

Your Profile:

  • Someone who thrives on working in a fast-paced environment and takes a hands-on approach to their workload.
  • NEBOSH general certification or equivalent.
  • Full and valid driving license.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with acute attention to detail.
  • Experience working in a warehouse environment would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Desirable, but not essential:
  • NEBOSH Environmental Management or equivalent.
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Fire safety or equivalent.
  • Manual handling assessor.
  • DSE Assessor.
