Are you a driven structural engineer with a passion for complex steel design? Looking to be involved from conception to site handover in a wide range of projects both UK and overseas?

We are working with a company that seeks a Structural Engineer for their small team involved in the design and construction of steel structures in the UK and overseas. As a Structural Engineer you will have the opportunity to work with industrial, commercial, leisure and other specialist structures. They need someone who will work throughout the project lifecycle until delivered to site. This means that not only will you take on the technical elements of the project but look at it from a Value Engineering perspective.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver full structural calculations, including concept, analysis, and detailed design.
  • Use linear and finite element analysis software for steel frame design.
  • Design connections, bolts, welds, and prepare engineering reports for building control.
  • Work closely with bid management, drawing office, site teams and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support safe construction practices and prepare erection methodology where required.
  • Attend internal and client‑facing meetings, offering technical input and value‑engineering.
  • Ensure designs are compliant with UK and international codes and regulations.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of structural engineering experience, ideally in steel design.
  • Chartered or working towards IStructE (or equivalent).
  • Solid grasp of seismic design, CAD software, and surveying principles.
  • Proven ability to optimise structures for safety, cost, and buildability.
  • A proactive team player who thrives in a fast‑paced project environment.
