Senior Estimator – Structural Steelwork

Location: Home-based (ideally based in the Home Counties)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (with flexi time)

Salary: c. 70,000 + Travel Allowance + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

A leading UK structural steelwork specialist is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to support its continued growth and expanding portfolio of high-profile projects across the South of England.

This home-based role would suit an estimator located in the Home Counties, providing proximity to clients, suppliers, and project sites. The successful candidate will take responsibility for preparing accurate, competitive, and commercially viable cost estimates for a variety of structural steelwork projects, typically ranging from 50 to 3,000 tonnes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for structural steelwork tenders.
• Liaise with sub-contractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.
• Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
• Engage directly with clients, engineers, and architects.
• Produce regular reports on tender progress and pipeline.
• Attend pre- and post-tender meetings as required.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in estimating structural steelwork projects.
• BSc/HNC in Building Studies or related discipline.
• Strong understanding of steel fabrication, erection, and connection design.
• Ability to interpret drawings and technical documentation accurately.
• Commercial awareness and value engineering capability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently from home.

Package:

• Salary of circa 70,000 per year + travel allowance
