About the Opportunity
We are working with an established and highly regarded international provider of modular and mobile healthcare facilities, a business at the forefront of delivering innovative, patient-focused clinical environments across the UK and worldwide. Their bespoke modular and mobile units include operating theatres, wards, endoscopy suites, decontamination and diagnostic facilities, all designed to meet the highest standards of safety, flexibility and performance. Due to sustained growth, they are now seeking a talented and commercially astute Senior Estimator to join their expanding Pre-Construction and Commercial Team.
The Role
As Senior Estimator, you will play a key role in developing competitive tenders, cost plans and estimates across a diverse range of modular and construction projects. You will work closely with colleagues in Bid Management, Business Development, Design and Procurement to deliver commercially sound, high-quality proposals that support the company’s continued success.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive tenders, cost plans, and analytical cost estimates for modular construction projects.
- Review enquiry documents and lead actions to meet key deliverables and submission deadlines.
- Develop detailed subcontractor enquiry packages and manage responses from the supply chain.
- Carry out measurements and take-offs from tender documentation to produce Bills of Quantities.
- Analyse subcontractor returns, identify scope gaps and propose cost-effective solutions.
- Implement value engineering initiatives throughout the tender process.
- Present cost submissions and commercial strategies for internal approval.
- Support the development and maintenance of historic cost databases and feasibility tools.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure bid accuracy and consistency.
About You
You will bring a blend of technical knowledge, commercial awareness and hands-on estimating experience within a Design & Build or Modular Construction environment.
Essential:
- Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within the construction or modular building sector.
- Experience managing tenders for projects between £2m - £30m in value.
- Strong understanding of modular and traditional construction techniques.
- Ability to interpret drawings, schedules, and specifications with precision.
- Qualified to ONC, HNC or Degree level in a relevant building or construction discipline.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Desirable:
- Experience working on Two-Stage Tender projects.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT.
