Writtle College is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Land‑Based Service Engineer / Technician (Agricultural Service Engineer/Technician) to join our engineering team, delivering the CNH Level 2 and Level 3 Land‑Based Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Programme.

Who this role is for: An experienced agricultural or service engineer looking to pass on their knowledge, skills, and industry insight to apprentices. An enthusiastic and capable engineer who may be earlier in their career and is keen to develop their skills with the support of the world‑renowned CNH machinery manufacturer.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the preparation, delivery, and supervision of live‑work student projects, including tractor and machinery servicing, repairs, and overhauls.
  • Supporting the creation of teaching models and rigs, such as wiring boards, cut‑away gearboxes, engines, and other practical learning aids.
  • Ensuring machinery, tools, and teaching resources are maintained and ready for each session.
  • Supporting general workshop operations, including tool control, equipment maintenance, stock control, cleanliness, and health & safety compliance to industry standards.
  • Transporting apprentices (minibus driving) and attending CNH technical training courses with apprentices at key stages of the programme.
  • Developing and delivering teaching content in subject areas where you feel confident.
  • Actively engaging in technical, educational, and personal development, including the opportunity to undertake teacher training qualifications.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interest and background in agricultural and/or service engineering, with experience in agricultural machinery, vehicles, plant machinery, horticultural machinery, and welding or fabrication repairs.
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at Level 2 and a vocational qualification at NVQ Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Ideally an endorsed teaching qualification or a willingness to commence teacher training within one year of employment; no formal qualification is required to begin the role.
