The Opportunity

Our award-winning landscape architecture practice is growing! We are an integrated team of landscape designers and landscape planners, with projects including landscape assessment and strategy, LVIA, green infrastructure strategies, concept design, masterplanning, detailed design, landscape management, visualisations and 3D modelling. We work side by side with a wide range of Arup’s other specialist disciplines including urban design, ecology, town planning, digital technology, engineering, cost consulting and project management. We have a diverse workload of high-profile projects across the UK and internationally, ranging in scale from environmental infrastructure design, major transportation projects through to restoration, town centre regeneration, streetscape design and green buildings.

We are currently recruiting for two roles: a Senior Landscape Architect based in Leeds and a Senior Landscape Planner based in Leeds or Sheffield. Both are new, ground-breaking offices where you will be working alongside an unrivalled community of experts. At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – where we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Are these roles right for you? We’re currently looking for a Senior Landscape Planner to act as a discipline lead, developing and running your own projects. With a particular focus on the energy and water sectors, you will be helping the UK to deliver its biodiversity and net-zero commitments and substantial social value for local communities. We are also looking for a Senior Landscape Architect to also act as a discipline lead, developing and running your own projects. We are looking for an applicant with passion for design and technical know-how. If you can combine these skills with an understanding of the landscape architecture industry and a desire to deliver excellent services for clients, we’d like to hear from you!

These roles will expose you to a range of project scales and types, each offering their own opportunity for tailored personal development. A key focus of the roles will be on writing and delivering LVIAs, including to support Development Consent Orders (DCO) for major projects.

Requirements:

  • BSc in Landscape Architecture or related discipline and CMLI accreditation with good knowledge of professional ethics and ethical framework.
  • Demonstrable professional experience of landscape architecture with a good understanding of the UK planning system and how our work relates to it.
  • Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS / Pro, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Project management experience, including fee budgets and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • A track record in building relationships with clients and stakeholder engagement.
