The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced Fluvial Geomorphologist to fill a role within our team in the North geography (Newcastle upon Tyne, Stockton on Tees, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, York). The role is within a wider River Basin Management team, which sits within a diverse multi-disciplinary team that also contains ecologists, landscape architects, carbon specialists, sustainability specialists and engineers. The team is increasingly focused on digital solutions, and any relevant experience in this space would be of benefit. The role will allow input on projects that deliver Nature-Based Solutions and contribute to improved resilience through climate change mitigation and adaptation.
The successful candidate will be expected to play a role in business development in the UK and elsewhere, which will include such activities as bid writing and coordination, client engagement and management and development of marketing material and initiatives. The successful candidate will also be expected to manage projects and play a role in team management. The role will present opportunities to work on research and development projects, and to formulate and deliver new research projects. The role will present the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients on projects in the UK and abroad.

Is this role right for you?
We are looking for people with:
- BSc and / or MSc in geography, environmental science, engineering or similar.
- PhDs would be nice to have.
- Expertise in Fluvial Geomorphology and River Basin Processes, River Restoration / Renaturalisation, Geomorphological Analysis and Design, Water Framework Directive assessment, and knowledge of Natural Flood Management will be required.
- Demonstratable technical experience, and ideally, be either chartered or close to being chartered with a relevant professional institution.
- An understanding of river basin hydrology and hydraulic modelling would be advantageous, as would experience of the modelling of geomorphological change.
