Arup’s Building Engineering Services team are currently working on a wide range of projects, including:
- Commercial – Heart of the City project in Sheffield, various developer-led office and residential projects in Sheffield and Leeds, fit-out projects for a number of high-profile organisations nationally.
- Higher Education – University of Sheffield Central Teaching Laboratories and Faculty of Health projects, Sheffield Hallam University Alliance framework – various major projects, Advanced Manufacturing Buildings for the University of Sheffield.
- Healthcare – projects Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trusts, National Centre for Child Health Technology new building for Sheffield Children’s hospital.
- Science and Industry – Several major scale and complex industrial projects in the Don Valley.
The opportunity: As a Senior Electrical Services Engineer, you will be a key part of the Building Services Engineering Senior Team, managing multidisciplinary projects while providing technical support and mentoring to the other Electrical engineers. You will be part of a collaborative team of over 20 Building Services engineers and technicians in the Sheffield office and a wider 100+ engineers and technicians within the Northwest & Yorkshire region.
Key responsibilities:
- Apply your engineering expertise to shape our projects.
- Work in an interdisciplinary environment and aim to design buildings that maximise value for our clients.
- Enable our clients to move their projects Towards Zero Carbon.
- Play an active role in all stages of our projects from feasibility through to completion across a number of sectors, including commercial, residential, education, energy, sport, health and mixed-use developments.
- Play a part in the ever-increasing digital transformation of our business, seeking new ways to increase our efficiency through automation and to offer new services to our clients through our integrated digital approach to design.
Is this role right for you? We are looking to speak to people who:
- Are degree qualified in Electrical Services Engineering, ideally to Master’s level.
- Are working towards a Chartership.
- Have excellent design and technical skills.
- Have had lead design responsibility on projects for the Electrical Services Engineering.
- Have experience of and enjoy working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary design teams, contributing to projects from inception to completion.
- Have demonstrable experience in the field of electrical building services design with experience across a range of project scales and building types.
- Possess strong planning and organisation skills.
- Have excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Able to demonstrate strong commercial awareness and be developing successful relationships with external team members.
- Are committed to their own professional development and looking for challenging work to develop their engineering skill.
- Have a passion for design and an enthusiasm for architecture and sustainable building design.
- Have the ability to demonstrate technical aptitude and experience in design analysis software.
- Have experience of working within a BIM environment using Revit beneficial.
- Have experience of managing small teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
- Have experience in and interest in training and developing younger engineers and technicians.
