Joining Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world. Oasys Structural is part of the Product Engine within Arup's Digital Technology Group and is responsible for the development and delivery of a portfolio of structural engineering software products and digital workflows, including GSA, AdSec, Compos and Grasshopper-based engineering solutions. The team brings together structural engineers, software developers, product managers and technical specialists to create tools that help engineers solve complex design and analysis challenges around the world. The team follows a product-led approach focused on understanding user needs, delivering impactful solutions and continuously improving how engineers work through software, automation and digital technology. The team collaborates closely with engineering practitioners across Arup's global business, ensuring that product development remains grounded in real engineering challenges and opportunities.
The Opportunity At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
As a Business Analyst within the Oasys Structural team, you will work at the intersection of structural engineering, software development and product management, helping shape products and digital workflows used by engineers across Arup and the wider engineering industry. Working closely with structural engineers, software developers, technical leads and product managers, you will help identify the right problems to solve and translate complex engineering challenges into high-quality software solutions. You might spend one day facilitating workshops with engineers to understand emerging workflows and opportunities for automation, and another working with developers and technical leads to refine requirements for new capabilities in GSA, AdSec, Compos or Grasshopper Plugins. You will lead discovery activities, analyse complex problems, challenge assumptions and help create the clarity needed for teams to deliver successful products.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to broaden your career beyond project delivery and develop expertise in product management, software delivery, user research and digital product development, while continuing to apply your engineering knowledge in a highly technical and practical context. If you are a structural engineer with a passion for software, optimisation, automation and improving engineering workflows, this role offers the opportunity to create impact at a global scale that is rarely possible through project delivery alone. You will help shape products and digital workflows used by thousands of engineers, influencing how engineering challenges are solved across projects, disciplines and regions.
Is this role right for you?
- You have experience using Oasys Structural Products and Grasshopper-based engineering workflows and are passionate about improving how engineers work through software, automation and digital technology.
- You enjoy understanding complex engineering challenges, working with users and turning insights into clear, actionable solutions.
- You are comfortable bridging the gap between engineering, software development and product management, and can communicate effectively with a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- You have experience with scripting, automation, APIs, computational design or engineering software integration.
- You are a curious, analytical problem-solver who enjoys challenging assumptions, creating clarity and helping teams make better decisions.
