The Opportunity

Project Commercial and Controls Management oversees a range of essential functions to ensure project success. These include contract administration, which encompasses managing changes and payment processes. The team handles invoicing and performs cash-flow analysis to maintain financial health. They are responsible for project status reporting, including performance updates provided both to clients and Arup management. A critical task involves calculating the value of work completed to support applications for payments. Additionally, they manage opportunities by overseeing proposal submissions and awards. Finally, they monitor costs and expenses closely, providing internal budget reporting to discipline leads to maintain financial control throughout the project lifecycle.

Is this role for you?

The role involves delivering project planning, controls, and management support. You will provide cost data for payment applications and invoices, and prepare internal updates for team meetings using information from the management accounting system (Ovaview) and area managers. Supporting commercial dashboards, managing job code setup and closure, and assisting budget holders with bookings will be key tasks. Timely reporting of actual and forecast data is essential to produce invoices, applications, and management reports, including bi-weekly expenditure updates and weekly progress summaries. Additionally, you’ll support opportunity management by assisting with proposal development and supply chain communications, prepare project performance reports, and offer general support to Arup project managers.

Desirable requirements are as follows:

  • The role requires suitable MS Excel knowledge, and the candidate shall have undertaken appropriate formal training.
  • Project Planning Experience (including experience with software packages such as Microsoft project or Primavera 6)
  • Very good communicator (verbal, written and listening) and with strong influencing skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, takes action and gets involved.
